However, proponents emphasized the need for modern facilities to ensure officer safety and retention. Select Board member David Farra urged voters to look beyond the price tag, stating, A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

The article required a two-thirds majority to pass. After a voice vote was doubted, a standing hand count was conducted, resulting in a final tally of 293 in favor and 129 opposed. The new facility will be located on Route 3A, a move that some critics worried would worsen traffic congestion, but which supporters argued provides better access for emergency response.
