$1.4M Budget Adjustment Passed to Cover RTF Deficit and Town Utilities

Key Points

  • Authorizes $1.04M to fund the RTF after the enterprise fund proposal failed.
  • Allocates funds for 143TV and various water and sewer department expenses.
  • Required to balance the FY26 budget in light of earlier voting outcomes.

Following the defeat of the RTF enterprise fund in the previous article, voters approved Article 7, which included a critical $1,041,000 supplemental appropriation to cover the facility's operations within the general fund. Town Manager Chris Senior explained that because the enterprise fund failed, the town had to immediately provide the full funding necessary to keep the RTF running through the fiscal year.

The $1.4 million total in Article 7 also covered several other administrative and utility adjustments. These included transfers for 143TV, funding for the "Trees Up Pond" relief project, and supplemental funds for the Water and Sewer departments. The motion passed by a clear majority, ensuring that town services would remain funded despite the rejection of the enterprise fund model.

Motion: Move that the Town vote to amend the FY26 operating budget by $1,441,000 as distributed in the motions packet.
