Cohasset residents may notice a balloon floating over Wheelwright Park on Monday as the town prepares for the installation of a new public safety cell tower designed to improve service in the northern part of town. In his weekly update on July 25, Town Manager Chris Senior explained the purpose of the test, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., weather permitting. "The goal is for it to be seen as infrequently as possible," Senior said, encouraging residents to look toward Forest Avenue from Sandy Beach or Rocky Beach to see—or hopefully not see—the balloon simulating the tower's height.

With the first quarter property tax deadline of August 1 fast approaching, Senior reminded residents they can pay in person at Town Hall, use the dropbox, or mail their payment, ensuring it is postmarked by the due date. The town is also seeking community feedback for its Open Space and Recreation Plan update. An online survey is available on the town website, with paper copies at the Senior Center, Town Hall, and the Paul Pratt Memorial Library through the end of August. "Your opinion is important. Take the survey today," Senior urged.

The Select Board is actively filling positions on various town boards, and Senior highlighted the need for resident volunteers for groups like the Alternative Energy Committee and the Affordable Housing Steering Committee. He stressed the importance of community involvement, stating, "Your participation is really important to help Cohasset work." Information on how to apply for open seats can be found on the Select Board's page on the town website.

The town also welcomed a new team member, Laura Quinn, who will serve as the new Assistant Director for Elder Affairs. Quinn, who previously worked in Hull, expressed her enthusiasm for the new role. "I'm excited to be here and I look forward to meeting many of the older adults here in Cohasset and serving the Cohasset community," she said. Senior encouraged residents to stop by Willcutt Commons to greet her. Concluding his update, Senior noted that all local beaches passed their water quality tests, wishing everyone a "beautiful summer weekend."
